Women at the Wheel: Andrea Hull

Hull is human resources/ benefits manager at Fisher Auto Parts, Inc.

During the month of June, aftermarketNews will be presenting the esteemed 2024 Class of AMN’s Women at the Wheel. From trailblazers who have helped create departments and even entire companies, to those who ensure their office runs like a well-oiled machine, this year’s group of 26 is full of authentic leaders, each with a story to tell.

Mentorship and programming have united women throughout the aftermarket, serving as a springboard for them to enter the industry and grow their roles into successful careers. They are sparking change and driving results, together.

Today’s honoree is Andrea Hull, human resources/ benefits manager at Fisher Auto Parts, Inc.

How your aftermarket career began: While getting my Master’s degree, I obtained an HR position in manufacturing and spent several years working in the manufacturing industry.  I was recruited directly by the former VP of HR for Fisher Auto Parts as an HR Generalist.

Best advice to other women in the aftermarket: My best advice would be: Develop a great network and build strong working relationships with folks at all levels; become a technical expert, but hire people who are good in the areas you are not; proudly take a seat at the table, any table, and know you have something to offer that is unique and important; and, do your homework–always be prepared.

How the aftermarket can do better to support women: Offer more formal and structured sponsorship programs to personally guide women into roles at the top of their organizations.

Family-owned business influence: It has greatly influenced my decisions, since prior to coming to a family-owned business I had mostly worked for big manufacturing corporations. So, it was a new world/culture for me to learn and navigate, but I found that it felt like “home.”

In tomorrow’s edition of aftermarketNews, we’ll feature Tanya Hunt, commercial project manager at BBB Industries.
