Tom Blackerby Named President and CEO of ASC Industries; Swaldo to Retire

William Thomas (Tom) Blackerby has been appointed president and chief executive officer of water pump manufacturer ASC Industries, Inc. Blackerby succeeds Theodore (Ted) Swaldo, ASC's founder, who will be retiring after serving as president and CEO since 1989. Blackerby has been with ASC since 1992 and its chief operating officer since 2004. Swaldo will move into a senior advisor role with ASC and its parent company, United Components, Inc. (UCI) until his Jan. 2009 retirement.

EVANSVILLE , Ind. William Thomas (Tom) Blackerby has been appointed president and chief executive officer of water pump manufacturer ASC Industries, Inc. Blackerby succeeds Theodore (Ted) Swaldo, ASC’s founder, who will be retiring after serving as president and CEO since 1989.

Blackerby has been with ASC since 1992 and its chief operating officer since 2004. Swaldo will move into a senior advisor role with ASC and its parent company, United Components, Inc. (UCI) until his Jan. 2009 retirement.

"Ted Swaldo has been instrumental in ASC’s success," said Bruce Zorich, president and CEO of UCI. "Since UCI’s acquisition of ASC, Ted has also had a positive impact on UCI as he has been a major contributor to the expansion of UCI’s global footprint and international sales efforts."

"While we’re sorry to see Ted leave, we’re excited to have Tom Blackerby take the leadership role at ASC," continued Zorich. "In his 16-lus years at ASC, he has worked closely with Ted as they have grown the company into a world leader in its field."

Blackerby holds a B.B.A. in Finance from Georgia State University and an MBA from The University of Akron. Prior to becoming ASC’s COO, he was executive vice president and chief financial officer. Blackerby is recognized as an expert in global sourcing, with particular success at deploying sourcing strategies in China.
