This week we hear from Tom Tecklenburg, vice president of sales and marketing for Bendix Brakes North America. He joined the Bendix organization in November 2004 after the commitment by Honeywell to reinvest and reinvigorate the Bendix brand. Prior to joining the Bendix team, he spent 15 years working on the FRAM, Prestone and Autolite brands in numerous functional areas, including finance, supply chain, operations, sales and marketing. In his tenure, he has worked with customers in various channels including original equipment, auto and commercial vehicle aftermarket. Tecklenburg has spent the last two-plus years repositioning the Bendix brand while driving sales growth and improved profitability by utilizing his past experience and the Honeywell enablers of Six Sigma and Digital Works. Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance Holds Annual Winter Meeting in Sunny Florida

The shareholders of Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Inc. gathered in Boca Raton, FL, for the group’s annual winter meeting held Dec. 2-6. Each shareholder of the Alliance was represented. The meeting is a culmination of the past year’s efforts of Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper parts stores and certified service centers. Goodyear Says Plants Pass Quality Audits

Trying to counter striking worker questions about the quality of tires being made by temporary workers at Goodyear tire plants, the tiremaker said that independent quality audits of three of its tire plants found the company was in 100 percent compliance with its quality standards. Goodyear said that NSF Industrial Strategic Registrations audits at its Buffalo, Danville, VA, and Fayetteville, NC, plants – all currently under strike by the United Steelworkers – found Goodyear’s systems in complete compliance with international quality systems standards.

It would be easy to dismiss Auto China 2006, the 10-day show in Beijing that wrapped up last week, as a pretender on the world automotive scene. With its deafening music, raffle drawings, flying acrobats and dance acts, and Disneyesque costumed donkeys, roosters, penguins and oranges strolling around, plus all the copycat cars and names, the atmosphere was more carnival than world-class business event. But Auto China 2006 is no more a pretender than its host country, China, which is forcing massive change in global auto markets and some of the world’s industrial giants.

DENSO Awarded Pronto OE Supplier of the Year

The National Pronto Association awarded DENSO Sales California the Original Equipment (OE) Supplier of the Year Award. The award was presented during the National Pronto Group’s fall membership meeting, held in Oct. DENSO supplies Pronto with oxygen sensors, spark plugs, starter/alternators, spark plug wires, fuel pumps, wiper blades, receiver dryers and oil and air filters.

This week we talk with Joe Pomaranski, vice president-sales, North American Aftermarket, for Tenneco Inc., manufacturer of Monroe shocks and struts, Monroe premium brakes, Walker exhaust products, DynoMax performance exhaust, Rancho performance suspensions and shocks, and DuPont Car Care appearance chemicals. Pomaranski was named vice president of sales, North American Aftermarket for Tenneco Inc. in May of 1999. In this role, he is responsible for sales and customer care activities for aftermarket ride control and emission control business, as well as DuPont Car Care chemicals and Monroe brake products in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
