Clarcor Acquires Fibers Filtration Product Line from Newton Tool Co.; Receives $1.6 Million Incentive Package from State of Pennsylvania

Clarcor Inc. has acquired the synthetic fibers filtration business of Newton Tool & Manufacturing Co., a privately-owned engineering and machining company based in Swedesboro, NJ. The synthetic fibers filtration business, including all of the related production equipment, will be moved into CLARCOR’s Purolator EFP operations in Houston, TX, and Shelby, NC. In other news, it has been reported that the state of Pennsylvania will provide Clarcor with a series of incentives worth $1.6 million in exchange for Clarcor opening a new manufacturing and warehouse facility in Pittson, PA.

Aldo Kamper Named Head of Osram Sylvania Automotive Group

Osram Sylvania today announced the appointment of Aldo Kamper as executive vice president and general manager for the NAFTA Region Automotive Lighting Division. Headquartered in Danvers, MA, Osram Sylvania is the North American operation of OSRAM GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG. In addition to heading up North American automotive operations, Kamper will oversee Osram Sylvania interests in Valeo Sylvania, a 50/50 joint venture with Valeo, and represent the Automotive group on the Osram Sylvania Executive Committee.

Advance Auto Parts Opens New Pennsylvania DC, 500 New Jobs Expected to Result

Advance Auto Parts has opened a new distribution center (DC) in Weisenberg Township, located in the Lehigh Valley of Eastern Pennsylvania. The new DC will serve the company’s expanding store base in the Northeastern region of the United States. The distribution center currently employs more than 150 people. Advance Auto Parts expects to add nearly 350 more jobs in the coming months as the distribution center continues to ramp up volume. These jobs consist of drivers, dispatchers, material handlers, supervisors and managers and are primarily being recruited from the Lehigh Valley area.

Champion Parts Completes Sale of Pennsylvania Plant

Champion Parts, a remanufacturer of automotive parts, has completed the sale of its 200,000 square foot Beech Creek, Pa., plant and property. Champion Parts remanufactures fuel system components, air conditioning compressors, front wheel drive assemblies and other underhood electrical and mechanical products for the passenger car and light truck, agricultural, heavy-duty truck and marine parts aftermarket.

Advance Auto Parts to Open New Distribution Facility in Pennsylvania; Create 500 New Jobs

Advance Auto Parts has announced plans to open a new distribution center in the Weisenberg Township, located in the Lehigh Valley of Eastern Pennsylvania. The new distribution center will serve the company’s expanding store base in the Northeast region of the U.S. The facility is expected open in the spring of 2005. Once operations are at full capacity, Advance said it anticipates that 500 new jobs will be created.

Universal Technical Institute Signs Lease for New Campus in Pennsylvania

Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has entered into a long-term lease agreement for a new UTI campus near Exton in southeastern Pennsylvania. Encompassing approximately 160,000-square-feet, the new facility is expected to open in summer 2004. The new UTI-Exton campus will initially offer programs in automotive technology to diagnose, service and repair automobiles.
