Myers Industries Welcomes John Crowe to its Board of Directors

Since 2006, Crowe has been the chairman and chief executive officer of Buckeye Technologies Inc.

AKRON, Ohio — Myers Industries has added John Crowe to the company’s board of directors. Crowe was elected to the board of directors at the company’s annual meeting of shareholders, held April 30.

“John brings a wealth of expertise across many disciplines, and we welcome him to the Board,” said John Orr, president and chief executive officer. “His insight and counsel will be a strong asset to Myers Industries as we focus on our strategy for sustainable, profitable growth.”

Since 2006, Crowe has been the chairman and chief executive officer of Buckeye Technologies Inc., a leader in producing cellulose-based specialty products for niche markets worldwide, from food to pharmaceuticals to electronics. Crowe joined Buckeye in 1997, serving as vice president, Wood Cellulose Manufacturing until 2001 and senior vice president until 2003. He was named president and chief operating officer in 2003, and elected as a director in 2004.

Prior to joining Buckeye, Crowe was executive vice president/general manager of Alabama River Pulp and Alabama Pine Pulp Operations, a division of Parsons and Whittemore, Inc., and he was vice president and site manager of Flint River Operations, a subsidiary of Weyerhaeuser Co. From 1979 to 1992, he served in various positions with Procter & Gamble.

Crowe is a graduate of Florida State University with a master’s degree in mathematics. Prior to starting his business career, he served in the United States Air Force as a Senior Pilot and Vietnam Veteran, retiring from the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 1997 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
