DANBURY, Conn. According to data from the NPD Group, more than 65 percent of the vehicles on the road today have more than 75,000 miles. But as vehicles age, their engines get dirtier and are more likely to contribute to poor performance, with effects such as high oil consumption, increased exhaust emissions and seal and gasket deterioration.
To help protect older vehicles, FRAM has introduced the FRAM High Mileage oil filter, which, according to the company, is the first oil filter to feature a one-of-a-kind controlled delivery system called Time Release Technology (TRT).
“With the FRAM-designed TRT, a specially formulated gel additive is inserted into the oil filter’s center tube and is released over time into the oil to help maintain viscosity, reduce corrosive engine wear, neutralize acids and keep engine components cleaner,” said Rick Widden, vice president and general manager of Filtration and Ignition for Honeywell Consumer Products Group. “As a result, older engines stay clean longer and receive greater protection between oil changes.”
Featuring a 96 percent single pass efficiency, the FRAM High Mileage oil filter releases the gel additive into the filtered oil with every pass through the filter. According to FRAM, the additives, which are protected inside the filter from the degrading environment of the engine, slowly dissolve into the filtered oil. The additive-enhanced oil then flows back into the engine to protect against corrosive wear, deposits and viscosity buildup.
The FRAM High Mileage oil filter is available for 83 percent of the vehicles on the road with more than 75,000 miles. For more information about FRAM oil filtration products, visit www.fram.com, call 800-890-2075 or contact your local FRAM distributor or sales rep.
