Dayco Adds License Plate Parts Lookup, 3-D Training To Patent-Pending App

The app now gives users two ways to find parts faster, according to Dayco.

TULSA, Okla. – Dayco Products has announced it will release a major update to its VIN-scanning app during AAPEX this week in Las Vegas. According to Dayco, the new update, available in both the App Store and Google Play Store, will include first-of-its-kind license plate parts lookup technology as well as Augmented Reality training features.

“Last year, Dayco developed and released the first-ever VIN-scanning parts lookup smartphone application to help professional technicians and do-it-yourselfers find parts faster. This year, Dayco developed another first, giving users the ability to type in their license plate number for a complete list of Dayco parts available for their vehicle,” said Sherry Mathis, sales automation manager for Dayco.

By simply entering a vehicle’s license plate digits and the state of the license plate, the Dayco app now finds all available Dayco parts for that specific vehicle. Users of the Dayco app also can take advantage of Dayco’s new AR (Augmented Reality) training. This 3-D training technology is accessible when users hold their smartphone or tablet over specially designed Dayco counter mats. When done so, the image of an engine comes to ‘life’ through the use of Augmented Reality technology, creating a digitally enhanced view of the engine. Dayco’s 3-D training is available for both serpentine belt drive systems as well as complex timing jobs. If a user does not possess a Dayco counter mat, that user may still take advantage of the training through a video embedded within the Dayco app.

Dayco’s AR training is available through the Dayco VIN-Scanning app’s learning center, or can be downloaded directly from the App Store or Google Play Store.

“Professional technicians and shop owners are constantly searching for innovative ways to educate consumers on the importance of preventative maintenance,” said Robert Christy, director of marketing for Dayco. “Dayco’s 3-D training is the newest way we’ve added increased value to our training initiatives while following our mission statement, which is to be an innovative, technology-driven organization that provides valuable tools and service for our customers.”

“Our 3-D training is a perfect addition to the Dayco app,” added Mathis. “Not only are we now offering multiple ways to look up parts, we are also offering multiple ways to educate our customers on the ways front end accessory drive components wear and when they should be replaced.”

The Dayco VIN-scanning parts lookup app gives professional technicians and do-it-yourselfers instant access to a complete list of Dayco parts that match a vehicle’s year, make and model by simply scanning the VIN barcode under the windshield or in the door jamb of the vehicle, or by entering the vehicle’s license plate digits and the state of the license plate. After finding the needed part, app-users also have access to part specs, routing instructions and step-by-step installation videos.

With a “Where to Buy” feature, the app gives users the ability to find the closest parts store selling Dayco products, complete with store contact information and directions to the store location via a map search, all through the use of GPS.

To view a live demonstration of the license plate parts lookup as well as the 3-D training, visit Dayco this week at AAPEX booth No. 4026 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center from Nov. 5-7. Visit daycoapp.com to download the Dayco app and view a demonstration video. The free app also is available in the Apple App Store, and for Android systems in the Google Play Store.
