2007 Technician of the Year Honored at HDAW

LAS VEGAS, NV – Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, Dayton Parts, LLC (DP, LLC), Haldex, ODYSSEY Battery and SKF recently recognized Britt Olson as the 2007 Technician of the Year award recipient. Olson is a technician for the Southeastern Freight Lines location in Albany, GA. He was honored during an awards program and reception held during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week.

With more than 20 years of service to Southeastern Freight Lines, Olson is a two-time Quality Achiever within the company’s Quality Improvement Process program. He has logged more than 85 hours of training since 2002, earning certification in various areas such as Volvo A/C troubleshooting, Haldex brake/ABS, Meritor PSI tire inflations system and ConMet wheel ends, to name a few. Additionally, Olson is an ASE-certified technician.

Lee Long, director of Maintenance for Southeastern Freight Lines, recognized Olson as a technician who is “ever-mindful of the need to increase productivity, while at the same time making sure that proper safety measures are always carried out.” He also added that Southeastern Freight Lines believes Olson “represents all that is good in technicians today, exhibiting competence, reliability and a willingness to learn.”

Olson’s nomination form also acknowledged his innovative contributions to the industry, such as fabricating a tool to adjust the clutch on the Volvo VNs with hydraulic clutch control systems. It also noted that he developed a set of “grabbers” to pull the jaw springs more easily on the Fontaine No-Slack 5th wheel. “These are only a couple of many self-developed tools by Olson,” added Long.

An independent panel of judges extensively reviewed the pool of nominations. The panel consisted of heavy duty trucking experts holding backgrounds in various areas of the industry – from nationally recognized heavy duty trucking magazine editors to former fleet managers to heavy duty aftermarket product manufacturers.
