The Transportation Safety Equipment Institute (TSEI), a trade association for manufacturers of original equipment and aftermarket motor vehicle safety devices and associated equipment, recently announced Paul Menig as its new executive director. Menig also is CEO of Business Accelerants, a strategic management and business consulting company in Portland, Oregon. Previously, he held engineering and management positions at Daimler Trucks North America, Eaton Corp. and General Electric.
“I am excited to lead TSEI as it approaches its 60th year of advocating for transportation safety,” said Paul Menig. “I have been involved with making commercial vehicles safer and easier to operate since the mid-1980s. I look forward to further improving safety for drivers, passengers and people outside the vehicle through all the possibilities available with the advent of automated, connected and environmentally-friendly vehicles.”
“Paul Menig will be a tremendous leader for TSEI. He brings with him a deep knowledge of the application of safety systems in road vehicles and 40 years of experience in the transportation industry,” said Bart Terburg, president and board member of TSEI. “He has a passion for safety and will position TSEI for the future in the fast-changing world of mobility.”
Menig has been awarded six U.S. patents and is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and worked on a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
